My eyeshields are on the way. I also ordered an accessory for a telescope that I don't even have yet. I ordered a universal dovetail base.

Looks like there may be some clear sky tonight. Might go after M81/82.

There was no clear sky last night Looks like there may be some clear sky tonight and I'll have a new set of binoculars and a finder scope to play with. Are you going to have a clear sky tonight?

Sherlew do you have a copy of NIGHTWATCH? If you do we could try to compare clarity of our skys. Read under Keeping Records on page 96. We could look for the faintest stars that we can see with the naked eye.

I just looked, our forecast changed. Looks like it's going to be clear tonight. Sorry you didn't have a chance to observe last night. Hope it's clear for you tonight as well.

Guess I should buy my own copy since we got a decent tax refund this year.

I started a thread for the sky clarity test. That finder scope that I just got has a peep sight but it didn't come with any protective lens caps I now have a pair of CELESTRON COMETRON 7x50 binoculars just like yours If the sky cooperates I will try them out tonight.

WOW these binoculars have almost a 7 degree field of view. That should be great for navigating. My current plan it to make these my main binoculars that I will wear even when I'm using a telescope. I got a harness just for them also.

Huh, I wonder why the peep site didn't come with lens caps. Maybe you can find some that'll fit.

The peep sight is just a hole and doesn't require lens caps it's the finder scope itself that needs them. I'll try to keep my eyes out for something that might work. I just took my new 7x50 binoculars outside and set diopter focusing I also put their new harness on them so they are ready for tonight. They seem to be OK so far.

Well, the 'clear' forecast isn't as clear as they seem to indicate. It's too hazy for any observations tonight.

I went out several times last night and had a cloud problem also. I could only see the major stars like Regulus, Pollux, and Castor. I could not see the SICKLE or M44. I could see Polaris but not the stars around it. I think the new binocular are working OK but had trouble with light coming in from the side. If I catch the mailman I'll have my Eyeshields today. Tried the new finderscope. It flips and reverses the image. I could put it bang on a target but I could not hold it steady enough to even start to focus it

Sorry you had clouds too. Hope you get a chance to try out your new stuff properly and that you can catch the mailman.
