That is a single wall stainless steel water bottle and I'm thinking and hoping it doesn't have any coatings inside or out. Its not just for carrying water. You can also boil water in it to make it safer. The coiled retractable key lanyards are to help keep from loosing things. I have had 2 jobs in my life so far that dealt highly with people loosing things, a tool PO in the navy and a treasure hunter. People loose stuff like crazy. In a survival situation you don't want to lose your survival gear.

I wear 2 coiled lanyards kind of like these everyday.

Uh oh, well this guy knows it's stainless steel and says that this bottle doesn't have a coating on the inside. I'd say that you got a good bottle, really nice.

I'm impressed by the Kelty Redwing. I wouldn't go cheap on something like this. I'd get either something like the Kelty backpack, or something of the same quality for a bit less if you can find it.

I am thinking about sending for that Everest hiking pack today. It isn't going to be my only pack and I think that cheap good quality items do have there place in survival gear. You should have more then one bug out bag because chances are you are not going to be alone. Most people that hike have different packs for different types and lengths of hiking.

That's very good thinking. You never know when you'll need extra stuff.

A little project for me. I am going to try an upgrade these expandable coil lanyards with better clasps.

I just finished. It took a while. Those tiny split rings are a pain. I am thinking this might work out good on the outside of one of my packs.

I don't like that the ends of the coil come off at 90 degrees from the coil.
