Carrying that pack yesterday was a good start to training. I have 2 good hiking sleeping bags that I have had for years one synthetic and one down both are 20 degree bags and both are under 3 lbs. I was looking at sleeping bags last night and its still hard to find bags like that. I was thinking that for my training pack I have a military rain poncho with a liner that has a conversion made to it so that it can be used as a sleeping bag. I would like to find my scale and weigh it.

I tried the packable jacket on last night and if fit well seemed warm and was very lite. I wish it had better direction for stowing it in its own pocket.

The directions on a lot of things could be better. Did you figure out the trick?

I think and hope I did it right. I picked up some seam sealer for my new tarp tonite so within a few days I'll apply it.

We can probably find instructions on doing this on Youtube. What's the make and model?

Well, I couldn't find anything on that specific jacket, but did find some videos on how to do this on other packable jackets. Youtube Search Packable Jackets

Installing a few grommets for the first time. This shows one of the tarps original grommets with one that I installed. This shows the back of theirs and mine. They added an extra piece of their material and I added a piece from another tarp of a different kind that I had already cut up. Next I want to add a few strap loops. I have to dig up my hand stitcher and a strap.

There are several different berries in this area; white, red, dark purple, and orange. I was trying to take a good photo of the white berries which I suspect are poison sumac.
