Eerie ghost towns, villages abandoned after shocking massacres, the palaces of deposed dictators and mansions so well preserved they’re like 1950s time capsules are among the Middle East’s abandoned treasures. The Cradle of Civilization and the areas that lie just outside of it contain some of humanity’s oldest structures, and a great many ruins. 7 Abandoned Wonders of the Middle East

Man beats clerk for not carrying XXXL tank tops July 17, 2013 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Authorities say a store clerk in Chicago was beaten with a baseball bat after telling an angry patron that the retailer didn't carry extended-size tank tops.
Chicago Police say a man went into a store on the city's far west side on Tuesday morning and asked if it stocked the sleeveless shirts in size 3XL.
The 51-year-old clerk told the man that the store didn't carry the size. Investigators say that's when the customer pulled out a baseball bat and started beating the employee.
Police say Wednesday morning that no arrests have been made.
The clerk was treated at Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center for head lacerations and later released.

It might be this news story Man Dies Of Rabbit Flu In EnglandOr it might be something else. Don't really have time to look it up this morning. It sounds like we may have another animal-origin flu running around. Hope it doesn't spread like the bird flu does. From what I understand, though, the British are pretty good at dealing with these illnesses. I wouldn't worry too much. That would be my guess.. First video was amazing though, if someone just came up and told me deer were eating birds, I'd never believed it.

Rewarding the Breast Disguises: (1) An April crime report in San Francisco, noting that a female driver had rammed another car in a parking-space dispute, noted that the victim gave officers little help. The man could not tell officers the model car that hit him, and certainly not a license-plate number, but he "was able to give a detailed description of the suspect's cleavage." No arrest was reported.
In Kobe, Japan, in May, an unemployed, 32-year-old man carried out a minor theft (stealing a wallet from a parked scooter) apparently just to be locked up in the world famous city. Besides being the home of Kobe beef, it is acclaimed for its French, Chinese, and octopus cuisines, and in fact, Kobe's Nagata Ward Precinct is renowned for the special gourmet boxed meals prepared by local bento shops, delivered daily to prisoners, which the thief said was foremost on his mind. City councilman Simon Parkes, 58, confessed to a reporter in June that he had had an extramarital affair--in fact, an extraterrestrial extramarital affair--with the nine-foot-tall Cat Queen, and that she had born him a child. Parkes said the Cat Queen is biding her time until technology is available to bring her and the child to Earth. Said Parkes, "There are plenty of people in my position who don't choose to come out and say it because they are terrified it will destroy their careers." Parkes said his wife knows about his periodic meetings with Cat Queen and is "very unhappy, clearly." [Fox News, 6-18-2013] alieno ;;'ufo

Rare 3D Camera Found With Photos from WWI While visiting an estate in Ontario's Niagara Falls two years ago, a film enthusiast stumbled upon a rare World War I Richard Verascope stereo camera previously owned by the French Army. Here's what he found inside.
The verascope camera, which was purchased by A Nerd's World's Chris Hughes, was found in pristine condition and included the original leather carrying case and glass slides. The antique had been in the possession of an elderly man who was clearing out his camera collection in preparation for retirement.

The suspects managed to lock themselves in the building and had to break out.
KRDO-TV aired surveillance video of the suspect dressed as Batman. After the video aired, the boy turned himself in to police. Authorities plan to seek charges including burglary and criminal mischief.
The boy wasn't named because of his age. Police were still seeking the other two suspects. batman;
