Both of those pencil sharpeners are suppose to produce long points. I got some more and different point protectors. Those drawing pencils are higher quality then what I have. Those are my very first mechanical pencils. I got STAEDTLER 0.5mm and 0.7mm. I got another clutch pencil and some 4B and 6B lead for them. Sherlew do you use mechanical pencils?

I have one around here somewhere. Don't use it much, though. Most of the time I use a pen.

I just unboxed and tried for the first time my new CARL ANGEL-5 pencil sharpener on a DALER-ROWNEY HB pencil and WOW what a long sharp point. Next I will have to try my new KUM Automatic Long Point.

View AttachmentI got the sandpaper sharpeners in the mail today and I got the larger box at Walmart to replace the smaller one that I included in the photo. After I bought the larger box and got it home I found out that it is made for connecting two of them together so yesterday I bought another one and last night I put them together.

Here is a photo I just took of the two cases connected. The bottoms of them connect together. You also see in the photo my colored pencils that I have had for a long time. They were very cheap. I was just studying colored pencils for the future. To me it looks like oil based might be the way to go.

I just tried my KUM long point sharpener on a DALER-ROWNEY 2B pencil and it did produce a nice long point but comparing it to the pencil that I sharpened earlier with my CARL ANGEL-5 sharpener the ANGEL-5 produced a slightly longer and sharper point.

After lunch I am going to get off of the computer and work on my drawing. I've been wanting to work on it for days now. At the stage it is at now I keep looking at it and thinking it would be great to ink in the lines but that's not how the directions in the book goes. I am going to finish this drawing how the book says but I am thinking about redrawing it in my sketchbook and maybe there I will ink it in.

It'll be interesting to see which works best. Those who write books usually know what they're doing, but no one knows everything and some people find that a different method works better for them and has better results.

Thank you The book says all you need is that #2 pencil and that's all I've used so far although I keep thinking that I have this and that which would be better but I'm doing this one how the book says. Have you start trying to draw something yet?
