Here we go, I actually found a webpage that lists queen ann's lace as a dye. Just scroll down. It's under 'Shades of BLUE- PURPLE'. Making Natural Dyes from PlantsIt is also listed under yellow. Some plants you can get several colors from. For the blue-purple dye I wish it would say how many of those tiny flowers you would need.

I have been looking at headlamps because that's what I'm thinking of getting next. I want the most lumens for the longest run time that is the least in weight and expense. It's a balancing act.

Good catch on it used as a yellow dye, too.

Yes, and a good headlamp is so handy after dark. The first time I saw one was at a friend's BBQ where the cooking went on after dark.

That's a really good close up of it but no story. The stories I've heard had to do with the making of purple dye in the days of old. I think it to be a confabulation marketing scheme. I think what happened with this link is that I was going to use a different link, changed my mind, and neglected to change the text to match.

I stopped at Gander Mountain today and got one of those fleece blankets that has a zipper that goes around it to turn it into a sleeping bag. Now I am better set for testing my different sleeping pads.

This is the head lamp on the top of my list right now. www.campmor.com/Product___85799For just in your tent or tarp or around camp probably any headlamp will do but if you are hiking a major trail you would want and need one for night hiking.

I have 4 different sleeping pads to test. I guess I'll start with this one. I bought it years ago at Walmart. It's an OZARK TRAIL Lightweight Camping Pad. It is 1/2 inch thick and measures 20 inch x 72 inch.

This was my bed until 5:10am this morning. You can just see the blue sleeping. I also tried out that sleeping bag liner. It got bad reviews on campmor's website but it worked OK last night.

Repeated usage might show up some problems, though.

I was going to post a link to show it but Campmor doesn't have it now. Its A MUMMYLINER made by DESIGN SALT out of NON-WOVEN NYLON. It says on it that it's machine washable, breathable, and durable.
