I just measured and put up 2 command hooks. They are meant for holding a broom & dust pan and rated at 5 lb each. I will leave them for a day before I put the light on them. They say 30 minutes but I'll give them a day. I pray they hold.

I just hung my fluorescent grow light in the living room window and so far so good. It works. It should be good to handle plants 2 feet or less. It is still to cold to put my peppers on the windowsill but my chives are there.

With out this post my last 2 posts wont appear? I only see this one and one more above posted today. Don't know why the other two aren't showing. Maybe the site is having problems again. Maybe you can post them again here soon.

I just averted a catastrophe. I was swapping out the chains that suspend my new windowsill grow light and I noticed one of the command hook was just barely holding. So I had to take everything down. Now I will have to try plan B.

Oops, glad you caught that in time. Hope you have better luck with plan b.

How much weight will those adjustable shower curtain rods support? How do I find out? I was at walmart's site but the item description doesn't say.

I'm not finding that spec online, either. Not even Amazon had more than the basic dimension descriptions. I suppose the thing to do is to select what you think will be the best rod and email the manufacturer to ask about it's load capacity.

The keywords 'strongest adjustable rod' should come up with links to some good products.

At first I was thinking shower curtain rod because that was the only kind I knew. The max length of them looks like 72 inches. The window that I want to bridge is 78 inches. While doing some searching I found that they also make them for windows and even rooms as room dividers. They are often called tension curtain rods. I found one on amazon that should work well for me. I will probably send for it tomorrow.
