I thought that I would start this thread to ask and inspire all of you to try mall walking. My new Powrwalker Pro Cables are working out GREAT for me I was worried that the cables it came with would not be strong enough for me but I was wrong, they are killer diller I set a short term goal of doing one complete lap of the lower level using them.

I'd love to exercise more, I am slightly over weight and I need it, but both my leg problems and my schedule would prevent such a thing, as well as the cost of the equipment.

I am like the only one using equipment. Basic mall walking doesn't cost anything. Most people that I seen mall walking do have problems and that is usually the reason they are doing it.

Some medical conditions might keep people from doing it though. It's up to their doctor, really. My local mall encourages walking and last I heard it opens early for people who want to get some exercise. I walk around it once in awhile, but not on a regular basis, probably should.

I see your point PD, but most likely the culprit for me not doing something like that would be the fact that I have to work at least (Hopefully) 30 or more hours a week, and the time I am not doing that I am watching two small kids. However... I do have a agricultural high school near me: www.chicagoagr.org/And have always thought about making that my daily walk on non working days (On days I work I walk a good mile or two twice a day and stand and walk for 6-8 hours.), especially in the warmer months as they have horses and cows and things outside on the paths and you can also walk about and around the crops as well. But right now that is all snowed over and I'd have to drag two kids n two buses in the cold to get to the nearest mall. But this is more encouragement to start walking that way again once Spring hits.

Sounds like you do quite a bit of walking on work days already, Tom. Trying to get in more when it isn't practical doesn't make sense. Hope you get to do some walking around the High School later this year, it sounds nice.

I'm a weirdo, I've named all the animals and talk to them. They are going to arrest me one of these days.

LOL Oh, I doubt it. As long as you stay on your side of the fence, I'm sure that everything will be OK. How do you know that the students don't do the same?

I few of the strange things about when I was mall walking. A lot of the mall walkers remove there coats and lay them on the tables of the food court or the benches though out the mall and go mall walking I bet this is the only place in the country where they do that. When I was walking around and around the mall with other people it put me in mind of that movie where that guy gets busted for smuggling dope and get put in a Turkish prison. Remember all of the inmates walking around and around that room?

Never seen that film PD, but it is odd about the coats, at least for me, living way less then a mile from Chicago, such things are unthinkable!

I still doubt that anyone would worry that much about someone talking to the animals. I'd say that it shows appreciation for them. Just don't say something like "hold tight, I'll spring you soon."
