I did look at the adjustable astronomers stools before and they were insanely expensive. Do you think you'll be able to make one?

I'm getting the feeling that the new finderscope I just ordered may turn out to be the exact same one that is on my BUSHNELL DEEP SPACE 3 inch reflector.

What is the field of view for 5x24 finderscopes? I was trying to find this out last night and was unable to. Other people have asked this question but the people supplying answers belittle blow off and avoid giving an answer. I seen one person that guessed at it being 7 or 8 degrees.

I took my camera out with me last night. I was going to take a photo of my telescope set up outside. Then I forgot all about it

I was looking at my charts last night trying to figure out what went wrong with navigating last night. I think I was way over shooting M46/47 way to fast. I do remember seeing the triangle of stars off of Sirius and thinking it's to small to be the one I'm looking for but now I'm betting it was it. Maybe I should try to get Dave Hearn to tell me the secrets of navigating with a small telescope? They are calling for clear a sky tonight here so I may take another crack at it. I also ordered a pair of binoculars for myself just like the ones you have 7x50. I have been thinking that I would like to have a pair with me when I'm using a telescope. They might even help out and play an important role with finding things.

I don't think that I said this before but M47 reminds me of a sewing machine's foot. What do you think?

I hope it's a good scope, too. If it is, I might get one too. Looks like one can buy dust caps too if necessary. I have those dust caps. They are for eyepieces. The finderscope that is on my 3 inch reflector has very different dust caps. I was just thinking, I didn't even think about using the peep sight when I was out tonight. I didn't have to because what I targeted with the finderscope showed up in the main telescope view but it was very difficult to navigate.

Time: 21:00 ~ 21:35 EQ: BUSHNELL DEEP SPACE 3 inch AZ Reflector Telescope, Homemade Dew Shield, Plossl 32mm Eyepiece, Light Pollution Filter Subject(s): Sirius, M46/47, M41, ORION'S Belt & Sword Notes: Was hoping and trying to view M46 but it didn't happen. Couldn't even find M47. This telescope has a 5x24 finderscope with which I can see dimmer stars then with a red dot finder but the image is upside-down and reversed just like with the telescope. Tried but could not navigate to M46/47. Tried free wheeling around hoping to get lucky and hit it but it didn't happen. Tried doing the same for M41 with the same results. I was able to repeatedly find and view Sirius. Was also able to find and view ORION'S Belt & Sword with Nebula. The Plossl 32mm eyepiece gave me 21.8x and a 2.3 degree F.O.V..
