Does Mars Have Rings? Not Right Now, But Maybe One Day
As children, we learned about our solar system's planets by certain characteristics -- Jupiter is the largest, Saturn has rings, Mercury is closest to the sun. Mars is red, but it's possible that one of our closest neighbors also had rings at one point and may have them again someday.
What would that moon breaking up mean for Mars visitations and colonization?
Well, I find it most likely that anyone on Mars may have debris raining down on them and of course they'll have to dodge the debris in orbit. Now that we know of the possibility, though, we can prepare contingency plans. It may be a very long time before either one of the moons break up.
