Since we both have this same telescope now I thought maybe we should have a thread for it. I was having some problems with the red dot finder that came with this scope so I just now ordered a new and different one to try with it.

The red dot finder that I ordered is by Gosky. It looks very similar to what Orion Telescopes uses.

We should list our pros & cons.
Pros Price Lite weight. Very portable and easy to move around. So far I have just been leaving mine fully assembled. I just shorten the legs and put the scope in the full vertical postion. With everything unlocked you can do some scanning (not as good as you can with binos).
Cons The red dot finder that came with mine is wonky. Viewing directly overhead is very difficult.

I was just looking at digiscoping adapters and may in the near future get one to try.

There are all sorts out there. The one I bought needed some fiddling to get it to work with my smartphone. I would try to find a adaptor that is more versatile.

That Carson one looks interesting but seems to cost a lot.

This telescope comes with 2 eyepieces and a Barlow lens. When I ordered mine I also ordered a 15 mm plossl to use with it. Oh by the way Sherlew when you use your Barlow supposedly it goes before your diagonal ie telescope-Barlow-diagonal-eyepiece.

Yes, I read that in the instructions and practiced putting the Barlow in the right order when I was checking the everything out.

That Carson one looks interesting but seems to cost a lot. You should be able to balance quality with price. Keep looking, there should be something out there that is well made, but not too costly.

Have you done your math with figuring out your magnification with and without your Barlow for your eyepieces?

The Aperture of this telescope is 60 mm (2.4 inch). The Practical Maximum Magnification of this telescope is two times that which makes it 120x. The high power eyepiece that comes with it is 6.3 mm which comes out to be 127x. That is probably OK. With this it doesn't have to be exact but close.
