These are the pretty pink flowers that I seen. I was hoping that they would be Spring Beauties but they are not. Do you have any idea what they are? The photo doesn't do them justice. I looked at these up close with my new butterfly binoculars and WOW!

View AttachmentThis is Buttermilk Falls. Before when I was here is wasn't running. My photos aren't showing things well today. Still it the picture is quite lovely. My pictures don't always turn out, either. The camera on my new phone is supposed to be a 5 megapixel, but it has focusing issues so that's no good.

View AttachmentThis might be a patch of watercress. I seriously doubt the water is clean or safe and would never try it even if I identified it. Yes, even if it was watercress, it's best to be careful.

I seen a brown shy skidish bird from a distance today during my hike. When it was flying away I could see a white patch above its tail. It looks like it might be a Northern Flicker or a Yellow Shafted Flicker.

I also seen a tiny metallic turquoise beetle. I'll probably never find out what it is.

According to this webpage, the Yellow Shafted Flicker is a variation of the North Flicker species and I'd say that this looks very much like one.

I didn't get a photo of the one or two that I seen. I posted that photo to show the white patch that's like what I saw.

Ah, I though that this picture was from the Internet. I was hoping that you might have seen a bit more of it than one usually does.

As for the beetle, there are so many of the things I'm not sure if I could track it down successfully.
