These are my new binoculars that I just got. They are PENTAX Papilio II 8.5x21. They are very compact close focus binoculars referred to sometimes as butterfly binoculars. I have been wanting to get a pair of these for a very long time mostly to help with hunting for plants. This up coming years they will help me out in several way on my long walks. One of the photos shows them along with my pair of 10x50 binoculars for comparison. I use the 10x50 binoculars for astronomy.

Yes they are. That is what really surprised me when I opened the box.

They look like the binoculars used in Star Wars.

I just made a donation to Rails to Trails for a free T-shirt. I plan to use the Extended Jim Mayer Riverwalk a lot this year.

There are three in my state. One is about a couple hundred miles away.

My plan for today is to go on my first long walk / hike of the season. I have several new pieces of kit that I haven't got to use yet. I'm just going to take it easy and not push myself. I think I'll take my camera but not my sketching stuff. I would like to get a photo of the supposed sealed up Indian cave if not to much foliage came out.

I hiked the Extended Jim Mayer Riverwalk Trail again. This is down a cross the river from the Sandyvale Trail on the hill side. You can't see it very well in the photo so I put a red circle around it. It may be the sealed and collapsed Indian Cave that I heard about.

This is Buttermilk Falls. Before when I was here is wasn't running. My photos aren't showing things well today.

This might be a patch of watercress. I seriously doubt the water is clean or safe and would never try it even if I identified it.
