I discovered that I still have some brown rice that hasn't expired yet so today I might roast some and try to make tea. I am at a loose for hot beverages to drink. I can't drink coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.

I just got all of the stuff together and I'm about ready to start toasting my first batch of brown rice for tea. I also seen a YouTube video of this being done with barley.

Interesting, think I'll try it as well. Unfortunately all teas upset my stomach eventually, even most of the herbal ones. I guess it's because they're made with the leaves of the plant. Even ginger tea does for some reason. chamomile doesn't, but I get tired of it rather quickly. I can drink coffee, though, and it's my main hot drink. Unfortunately I'm caffeine sensitive so can't have too much.

I just toasted my rice and put it on a plate. Now I'm waiting for it to cool then I have a small container to put it in. It is easy to make a mess with rice. It just wants to spill and go everywhere.

I only had a few that popped and I removed them. You want to brown them but not pop them. If you have to many popped ones what you end up with is porridge.

This is my first time making this so I wonder things like. Did I brown it enough?

This is the rice that I used. The rice in the small container is what I toasted. I poured a small amount of untoasted from the bag onto the plate for comparison.

The last time that I cook rice some stuck and kind of burnt/browned on the bottom of the pan and I tried it and thought it was great.
