Is this built yet? I don't understand how will it be able to do the things they are saying? They are making it sound better then Hubble.

It' isn't built yet. The projected operational date is 2024Well, first off, the E-ELT's mirror will be 39 meters, or 127.95 feet wide, about eight times larger. The Hubble's mirror is only 2.4 meters, or 7.87 feet wide. Also, even though the Hubble has a good view up there in orbit, the E-ELT will have a view that is mostly unobstructed by atmospheric disturbances, such as water in the air. Stargazing has always been better in the world's desert regions.

Also, the E-ELT can work into the near infra-red and it's pictures can be complemented by radio telescope images, just like with the Hubble images.
