Took my Oberwerk 15x70 Binoculars and Mono Pod out. Located and viewed Star Cluster M41 in the Canis Major constellation a little to the south and slightly east of the star Sirius. Nicely visible in these binoculars. Located and viewed Star Cluster M47 in the Puppis constellation. Nicely visible in these binoculars. Worked hard at locating the Star Cluster M46 also located in the Puppis constellation by making a few trips back inside to look at charts. I observed the exact location of it but was unable to see it. Looks like a job for more magnification and maybe a filter.

I was also able to split a double star that is close to the location of M46 but I can't find its designation

In my Sky & Telescope's Pocket Sky Atlas on page 26 I see some stars have single digits. The double star that I split is right in between what I am guessing is Puppis 2 and Puppis 6.

I just sent Dave Hearn of KPO an email asking him what the designation of that double star is.

If you pause this video at 5:31 you can see the double star that I am talking about. It is centered between 4 Pup and 6 Pup.

I was viewing from 9:00 pm to 9:30 pm last night and seen a lot of activity in the sky. It makes me wonder is all of that just aircraft and satellites?

Here is what Dave Hearn said about the double stars that lie midway between (2 & 4) Puppis and 6 Puppis.

Looks like it might be clear here for part of tonight.

What I would like to do is to take one of my telescopes out and put it on M46. They are calling for 33 degrees tonight.

That's still chilly, but better than 17 degrees.

I just ran a letter up to the mail room and it's 39 now but it's very cold. I think it because of the humidity.
