I always wondered why they have not took advantage of a Who game besides the awful Top Trumps game for the PC/DS/Mobile platforms...but from the Doctor Who News Page comes this:
Hopefully these get a US release for our version of the current gen consoles, or this will just be a waste to us American fans.

I'm sure that there's a market over here for these. They'd be mad to pass up such a lucrative opportunity.

I don't know the DVD's are a 'niche' market over here, or so I've been told, but I would agree with you on this easily, especially if it means getting the games state side.

Well, if push comes to shove, one should still be able to buy them online, they'll just cost more and your bank may have to convert currency to do it. Bank of America did it for me several years ago when I bought a DVD set that wasn't available over here in the U.S.

Thing is that except for the Nintendo DS, every other platform or system for these games has a regional lockout so you cannot play foreign games from Japan or Europe on your US system and the only way to play foreign games would be to have to be modded with a different chip or a 'mod chip' as it is known, both voiding the warranty and insuring no service from the original manufactures, and costing a bit as well, and then having to go out and buy the imported game, which is usually not cheap, so I hope we get a release of these games in this region.

Ah, they would have to make this difficult, but then the pirates made them do it. Should have known that these would have regional restrictions. Really glad that music is not restricted in this fashion and hope it never is.

True, I never did think that rally music is the only form of media without such restrictions.

Update:
Nintendo to develop Doctor Who game? According to the Sun, BBC Worldwide has inked a reportedly £10 million contract with Nintendo to develop a Doctor Who game for the Wii and DS consoles.
The game, still in the early stages, is said to feature Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor as well as key adversaries such as the Daleks, the Cybermen and the Silurians.
A BBC insider reportedly told the Sun, "This has been in the pipeline for years. We're delighted to have finally nailed down a deal. We went with Nintendo as they have huge appeal for families and Doctor Who is very much a family brand. The Wii console is key for us as it's something families play together."
The Sun quotes David Tennant as saying that the element that kept this from getting off the ground before now was how developers treated the character of the Doctor. "The video game was quite actively developed, but it's difficult to nail as the Doctor doesn't blow things up. He's not Batman, who goes around smacking people in the head."
The insider added: "BBC Worldwide, which licenses BBC shows, has been trying to find some way of doing it. But you can't have Doctor Who blowing things to bits with a laser gun. That would massively change the nature of the show." According to the Sun, the plan is to have the game in shops in time for the 2010 Christmas season.

This would be neat. My sil has a wii now.
Also, am glad that they've made sure that the Doctor's character is to be done right. Letting the game makers change him would have been wrong.

I've had a Wii since Xmas, and although it is not at all bad, the motion controls are sometimes good and bad, not in the fact of if they work well, because usually they do, but it terms of actual game play. The other downfall of the Wii is that after you have bought one, if you want to have the complete experience then you have to buy accessories up the butt hole. Only one Wii Remote and nun chuck comes with the system, and then you have no nun chuck controller for the second one you buy, that is sold separately. There is also an SD slot for more memory for online games (More money), but in all honesty the Wii system memory can hold a bit of stuff before you need to expand. The Wii also is a crappy multimedia platform, no streaming from your PC like a X-Box 360 or PS3, and the Wii manual states that although it can play certain video formats, some might not work at all or only give you either the audio and the video, not both. The Wii does have some ultra cool games, and Wii Sports is fun till the novelty wears off, but it is it a good deal for the price, but if I had to do it over, I'd rather a PS3, especially as it has a Blue Ray player function as well... But I'll also happily admit that the Doctor Who games coming out for both the DS and Wii make me happy I own them both! ;D
