Ghost hunters coming to Woodbridge expo
John Ruggiero's interest in the paranormal stems from the same place as the neurofibromatosis he suffers with, his family.
Ruggiero said his mother was the one who inspired his interest in the paranormal. His grandmother died from neurofibromatosis-related tumors when his mother was a young girl and his grandfather couldn't raise his seven children alone, so they were placed in an orphanage.
"My mother was raised in an orphanage. She told us she was visited by her mother's (spirit) in the orphanage," Ruggiero said. "She definitely was an influence."
Ruggiero said his mother believes in the paranormal, but not as much as he and his brother Barry do.
In April Ruggiero, who along with his brother Barry, are co-founders of New Jersey Paranormal who research and investigate the existence of energy and spirits in the hereafter, will host an expo at Woodbridge Middle School to raise funds to research the disease that has impacted several members of their family.
The 2015 New Jersey Paraunity Expo will be held 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 18 at Woodbridge Middle School, 525 Barron Ave., Woodbridge.
Tickets are $10 per person. The event will include celebrities such as Brian Cano from the Syfy channel's "Haunted Collector," Joe Chin from the Syfy show "Ghost Hunters" and "Ghost Hunters International," Bruce Tango from "Ghost Hunters" and Dave Rountree from "Ghost Stalkers."
