Baconton woman hit with text scam, warns others

Beverly Townsend received a text message from a number with a 229 area code. It asked her to activate her debit card with her bank through another number.
"So I went ahead and done it and decided I was going to call the bank in the morning to find out was going on. I called the bank and they told me it was a scam. So my next call was to the sheriff's office," said Beverly Townsend.
