Abandoned resorts make for spooky summer vacations
Many Bay Area residents have visited the Sutro Baths, former playground at the beach, Palace at Land’s End. Built in 1896, the Baths presented “a wonder of engineering and architecture – entertaining the masses with enormous pools, concerts and an eclectic museum, before a suspicious fire razed the structure in 1966,” writes the San Francisco Chronicle’s Peter Hartlaub. These photos were captured recently by Will Ellis, photographer and creator of Abandoned NYC, a blog capturing abandoned places and forgotten history primarily in New York State, but also, as we see here, in San Francisco.
