I worked on A7 aircraft in the navy and we had several bird strikes. They cause a lot of damage and some are very messy. When I was in I think there was a few fighter pilots killed be cause of birds coming through the canopy.

Yeah, I can see that. Even though the birds may be relatively small, the velocities invovled are rather high.

I think most if not all of our bird strikes were from turkey vultures. They are a big bird and very high flying.

Yeah, we call them buzzards over here and they're pretty big. We see them in the neighborhood sometimes.
