Posting videos [Updated]

It's easy to post videos. Just hit reply, click on 'video button,' then paste the url in the box and click on the insert video button:

One of the many cool new features we will find with the forum upgrade, which as you can see I took the plunge yesterday and upgraded.

I am off the next couple of days and will look into a few things, including where our banner went! ;-)

Thanks Tom. I decided to address the video posting first since that is a favorite feature. I can go over other things later. I had a full day yesterday and didn't have much time for posting

Whatever time you find to come here is always appreciated.

Wanted to add that as I am looking over all the new stuff there was a feature to automatically have any link with a video on that URL will have the video automatically placed in that post.

Hopefully it makes the individual threads more visually appealing. If it begins to be a problem we can always switch it back off.

I've found out why we've been having trouble embedding certain videos here lately. Some seem to be set up in a way that defeats embedding. I'm not sure if this is on purpose or not, but it is annoying.

I haven't found a way around this problem, but have figured out a way to tell if a video won't embed.

What you want to do is click on the share button underneath the video:




Then take a look at the URL that pops up. This one has a hyphen in it, so we know it won't embed:





This one doesn't have a hyphen and embeds with no problems:




Also, the code you get after clicking 'Embed' doesn't work on our board, I've tried it.

I'll let you know if I find a better work-around on this.

I should add that using the URL you get after clicking Share seems to work better than the URL up in the browser's address box.
