Southwest News Hearld Poetry

Way back in the early to mid 90′s, I sent in about six or so submissions to the Southwest News-Hearld‘s poetry section Thoughts In Verse.

Although the poetry here is not the best in the world and I am pretty sure the editorial standards for choosing which poetry got published was no more complicated then making sure the same poet did not run in subsequent issues, it was the first thing I ever wrote with the intention of making it public.

I fell for the subsidiary publishing thing once with a poem titled FISH WITHOUT EYELIDS and I also got a poem titled ICE CREAM FIGURINES published in some bay area paper.

Yeah, the places that have you pay to get your poem published kind of suck as they just want cash.

The local paper thing is at least honest....

I just posted it as it is interesting to me that I got "published" a long time ago lol.

Although I cannot make a living at writing at this time, it is nice to know that at several points in my life I was able to get people to read thoughts that came straight from my own little minds in a book, newspapers and on various places on the internet.

Sometimes it is easy to forget that no matter what level we are using our natural talents at we are still using them. :-)

Was just browsing (haunting?) some old threads and was wondering if you'd like to share these with us?
