(Dec. 16) -- A Mississippi man gave new meaning to the phrase "flash photography" when he stripped naked in a cemetery while attempting to take pictures of spirits.
Police in Picayune arrested amateur photographer Robert Hurst on Dec. 10 after a surveillance camera in a graveyard captured an image of the 47-year-old snapping pictures in the nude.
Hurst admitted to PicayuneItem.com that getting fully naked in the cemetery was "stupid," but he said he was only pursuing his hobby.
For the past year, Hurst has been interested in orb photography -- a style of shooting in which photographers use flashes at night to capture images of glowing circles.
Some say the orbs are signs of a supernatural presence. Others say they are just specks of dust, raindrops, bugs or other objects illuminated by the camera's flash.
The suspect -- who has been charged with indecent exposure -- says some of his best images have been taken using bare skin as a background.
"I didn't mean to expose myself to anybody and it was stupid," he told the paper.
And even though Hurst says he's taken "some great pictures," he acknowledged it might be time for him to try another style of photography.
"No I don't think I'll be going into a cemetery, even clothed," he said.
