There is another "could we survive an alien attack" show coming on Sunday at 8:00pm on one of the discovery channels I think. I love these kind of shows but why is there more of them and movies and TV shows about the same? Do "they" know something that "they" are building us up for?

It may also be because they're doing what's popular, but can't come up with anything new and creative anymore.

I just watched this show and I think that it was a pretty good show. I liked learning about the thunder well that was stumbled upon back in the 50s as a possible means of striking back at an alien mother ship in orbit. The glaring flaw that I see in these shows is that they keep assuming that the very few let-ins that could make things like that happen will survive long enough to do so.

Let-ins? And what is a thunder well?

There was a very good show on after this one about monsters & mysteries of Alaska. They said about Sasquatches marking their territory by replanting trees upside down and then they showed some

Let-ins? And what is a thunder well? Let-ins are one of the types of people there are. It was an accidental discovery during underground nuclear testing when they launched the cover or plug material into space and then calculated how fast it traveled. I think they said it was 6 times the escape velocity needed.

I watched it again last night and listened for the exact numbers. He said it traveled at 24 miles a second and that was the first time doing it by accident. They already have it planed out how to do it better if they have to do it again and it uses water that is turned instantly into steam.
