I thought the the Planet of the Apes started from mankinds desire to have monkey butlers.

I.... don't think so. That's close, though. In the 1963 novel version of Planet of the Apes the apes on are the descendents of apes used as manual labor: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planet_of_the_Apes_%28novel%29Don't know if any of the movies, TV series or comics has this in it.

Have you seen this article yet? movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-talk/andy-serkis-biggest-movie-star-haven-t-seen-213836042.htmlThey were actually using the on-location motion capture while doing the pickup shots for Return of the King. They were just running out of time to finish the film and found a way to do Andy's stuff along with Elijah's and Sean's all at once. I learned about this while watching the special features on the extended version of The Return of the King.
