No matter what telescope I would get it will be a big gamble. I haven't been able to come up with a good site that I can get to yet. Star gazing outside of my building would be very dangerous. Some years there are a half dozen or more people murdered just right around my building. No matter where I go I always attract the wrong people. The leading criteria for me would be size, portability, and price. People that live on submarines probably have more storing and living space then I do. What ever I get I will probably have to carry it to where ever I take it as always. The telescope I'm looking and thinking about right now is the Orion Observer 70mm EQ.

Looks like it might be a good one for you. I was thinking that you'd have to get out of town to do any stargazing due to several factors, including the one you mentioned. I really hope you get a chance to get away from town to a safe place for viewing.
I have to go to work now, see you later.

An AZ mount would be better for carrying around because the EQ mount has that counter weight but for the things I would like to do the EQ mount is better. The best place for star gazing so far that comes to mind would be on laurel ridge. Buses don't go there. I would have to hike up there carrying everything and then be alone in the dark with wild animals.

Um yeah, probably not a good scenario, though I would rather deal with wild animals than the feral people that hang around a city at night.

Sherlew if you were going to get a telescope which one would you get? Well, if I could afford it, I would like to get what Deep-Sky Watch calls a medium telescope that has at least a 140 mm aperture, though even one of the smaller ones with an 80 mm aperture would be nice as well.

Are you talking about a Newtonian telescope?

Either that or one of the 90-130mm Maksutov Cassegrain telescopes.
