It turns out Bigfoot may not be the missing link between apes and man after all, because scientists think it was more closely linked to prehistoric polar bears .
Genetic tests showed that 'yeti' hair samples were a close match to bear DNA – but not any bear known to be alive today.
They tested a golden brown hair sample from an animal shot in India 40 years ago found the DNA actually matched that found in a polar fossil dating back more than 40,000 years.
Because the legendary Loch Ness Monster is more likely to be a giant sturgeon than a long lost dinosaur.
These fish continue to grow into old age and the largest ever recorded in a Russian river was 8m long (27 feet).
From the bony scales along the side of its body experts estimated it was well over 200 years-old.
