Pretty cool video and still pictures of this amazing blend of photos at the link.
I love this kind of stuff.
A fascinating video has merged photographs taken during the attack on Pearl Harbor with pictures of the same locations today, to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the bombing.
On December 7, 1941, Japan launched more than 350 fighters, bombers, and torpedo planes against the U.S. naval base in Hawaii, plunging America into World War II.
The four minute film, produced by the Navy Public Affairs Support Element in Hawaii, combines the incredible black and white scenes from the attack with color images showing the parking lots, buildings and fields that now exist where the drama unfolded.
In addition, firsthand accounts describe the moment the bombs were dropped, and the frightening aftermath. Some 2,400 sailors, Marines and soldiers were killed that day.
On Saturday, about 50 survivors and a crowd of around 2,500 gathered at Pearl Harbor to honor those who lost their lives on the island of Oahu and those who went on to serve during the war. Of the tens of thousands of servicemen who survived, about 2,000 to 2,500 are still living.
