Have some extra Halloween candy you're not sure what to do with? Want to reduce the temptation of the sweets sitting around your house? Dr. Robert Antolak, also known as The Gentle Dentist, is the answer.
The doctor is asking those with leftover Halloween goodies to donate the sweets to his office. While it may seem odd bringing candy to a dentist's office, it's for a good cause.
For the past eight years, Antolak has hosted a candy buy-back event after Halloween, paying kids $1 per pound when they bring the goodies to his office.
Usually the event nets between 500 and 600 pounds; however, this year the doctor only managed to collect 250 pounds.
"I think it was because the weather was really bad and the kids didn't get out like they usually do," said Antolak.
Antolak has made commitments to several local organizations, promising them candy donations, so he's asking for the public's help in fulfilling those obligations.
