I could see the mantis catching the cricket but I cound not see the kill strike Did you hear him say in the video that some mantis kill and eat bats & mice? Yes, it's amazing. It's hard to see the actual strike, but it looks to me like they stab and pin their prey at times.

We know why insects were so big during the time of the giant insects, OXYGEN. It kind of seems like it would be do-able for some one in advanced genetics to make a mantis capable of using oxygen better in our current environment and to grow bigger.

I was just doing some calculating from what we are just finding out and a mantis would not have to be very big at all to start praying on humans. The size that dragonflies use to be would probably do it. You may have missed this post.

I would think that probably a 3 to 4 foot mantis could do us in. Our size compared to our strength is one of the markers that people point to when referencing that this is not our planet and we are the aliens. Look at chimps they are smaller then us but like 9 times (?) stronger.

Their muscles are attached differently, for more strength than agility. We're more agile, just not as strong.
