I just took these photos of my new resonator mandolin ;D You can also see my awesome new tuner and the mandolin case (I made it so you could see the back pack straps). So far I haven't found anything wrong with it and I love it ;D I hope that when I take it to my lesson my teacher doesn't poo-poo it like she did my mandobanjo

Really doubt that she'll say anything negative about this, it's beautiful! She might even be jealous.

Her gripe with things like this is that they are loud but that is the very reason they are made. Resonators was what they invented before electric instruments came about. The resonator mandolin and the mandobanjo do seem to lend themselves to some songs better then others. I think that the 3rd photo shows the headstock best (it's pearloid).
Can you see the harmonic suppressors that I added?

looks cool to me, and why does your teacher seem to be so mean? YOU are paying THEM correct? *Scratches head*

Yes, I pay her every time I'm there. From what I've heard a lot of music teachers are like that. There is probably several reasons for it.

The third photo is the best one. Sounds like your teacher is very opinionated, though that is not a good excuse or reason to be mean.

There is a metal piece covering the bridge but thats not it. They are right below it and above the tail piece. Its those 4 black dots on the strings. They are rubber grommets.

Snap, do you play regular six string guitars as well or no? I don't play 6 string guitar yet. I've thought many times about getting one (I even have a few picked out). They are very big and our place is soooo small and they are big to carry on buses and mall and such If I were to get a guitar which ones do you think I should consider?

Hmm, there are a lot of choices in many styles. Personally I like the Strat body type, but my dream guitar is a Les paul custom with Powered Duncan pick ups and a sunburst finish, a kind of high powered Jimmy Page looking deal I guess.

I LOVE MY NEW RESONATOR MANDOLIN! ;D I read a few bad reviews on them before I bought mine and they mainly said that they didn't like them be cause they sound like a torn aluminum can. I did research and watched several youtube videos of them being played. If you know how to play and they are in tune they sound freakin awesome ;D Just because someone writes a review that doesn't mean that they know anything Some times I wander if competitors are writing them against each other.

That's possible. Or it could just be someone who's unfamiliar with the instrument, or just had a bad day/week/month/year and had to vent.

A review is what it is just an opinion, one that does not alway sit well with all who read it.

Thought I would bump this up so you could see the photos. I love this mandolin The only thing, not so much wrong but different about it is that the fretboard is bigger then most. Picking is OK but chords are a lot harder. If I learn to do chords on this I should be able to do them easy on anything else
