Tried to do a quick change of the default theme to make the issue with the old images hosted on Photobucket go away, but to no avail...basically, they want 400 dollars a year to enable third party hosting and the other major image sites are not stable in this regard either. Have been busy and you guys know how things go for me at times and it is like that right now...will fix it ASAP.

HOORAY Tom is back! It looked great until I logged in. I have no doubt that Tom can fix it.

Hi Tom We have a good chance if getting rid of those things, I think. I've chased down all my old Photobucket links and re-hosted the photos. I also changed the avatars of members who haven't been by for a long time to a default hosted by Proboards and deleted links to some old signature pictures hosted by Photobucket. I think I've gotten all the links. Plan to make certain of it this weekend. We might also consider deleting some threads that are a year old or more that no one uses anymore.

Well, I'm trying the new 'Something Dark' theme and don't see Photobucket's 'please upgrade images' so far.
Also, I'm wondering if images gathered from other sources and hosted on Photobucket by other people, even if we're not hosting them there, might be getting in the way of achieving our goal.
A basic theme like this one without icons that can be nabbed and possibly end up in someone's else's Photobucket account might be best for now.
Hey Tom, do you think that backing up the other themes and taking them out of service for awhile will make a difference?

HOORAY Tom is back! It looked great until I logged in. I have no doubt that Tom can fix it. I saw the same logging in, although in the admin control panel I set the 'Something Dark' theme as the default theme...maybe it only appears if the individual member changes it as Sherlew described in another thread?? And cheers PD, it will indeed be fixed in time.

Ok, after I switched to the Something Dark theme in the settings I did indeed see this new temp theme even after logging in. I also think Sherlew has a great idea about disabling the other themes, for now, might work as a quick and dirty fix, I will see a little later. For right now anyone who stumbles on this can change the theme of this forum by following the instructions in this thread here. deathbyposting.proboards.com/thread/5673/members-change-themesWhich shows in excellent detail how to do this in your member setting and sorry for the tech issues as well. PS: Would not choose the Halloween or Xmas theme as those were 'works in progress' from long ago and besides never being completed they also might have used Photobucket as the host for the forum images, making them currently as broken as 'Blood and Skulls,' if not more so as they were unfinished prototypes. Cheers to all for your patronage and patience.

You're very welcome, Tom. Glad I could help.
I did try out the other two themes yesterday just to see what would happen. They do have Photobucket-itis, just like the Blood and Skulls theme.
Hopefully keeping the themes basic will keep this problem away.

Will the photobucket things go away so that we can go back to the theme?

I don't know. Hopefully I'll find out if anyone's been able to banish the blight.

Will the photobucket things go away so that we can go back to the theme? What I am going to do is delete the Xmas and Halloween themes (I even saw one set to default when finding the current one for holidays) and will leave Blood and Skulls as it can be fixed once I source all the images, re-host them once I find the most stable place longevity wise and use it again as there is a lot of custom stuff and changes from 2009-2017 in there. I will get to fixing it when I can but will delete the old holiday themes that were never completed and probably add a couple new ones and the holiday one while I am in there. From the very little I read it seems PhotoBucket will stay with this model and some of the other bigger image hosts are likely to follow suit at5 some point in the near future, so it is a matter of finding a new stable host that might last at least a few years at least. (IMO)

Sorry I've been away so long. Been battling fatigue for a long time for some reason and just haven't been online much.
I'm back now and have really lucked out on finding a theme I can adjust in time for Halloween. In fact, I think that I can redo the rest of our old Holiday themes using this one.
I'll take a crack at them here soon when I have some time.

Yes, if you're not seeing the new themes go to your profile, click on 'edit profile,' then click on the settings tab. Scroll down a bit if you need to to find the forum theme drop down box. The new theme is called Halloween II. You'll probably see the old skins too, since you're staff. I haven't made any changes to them yet.

Well, the new Halloween II theme still seems to be working well so far. I did some posting this morning and except for the fact that the preview tab is whited-out when one hovers the mouse pointer over it, everything looks pretty good. I also linked to some of the smilies from the previous default theme as well.
