Some years we have had out breaks of slugs here. They where only about an inch.

We have banana slugs over here. Although they can grow up to 9.8 inches long, the biggest I've seen were about half that. I guess you'd have to go off far into the woods to find the big ones.

They are snails without the shells. Just because they are edible doesn't mean they are edible. They can feed on stuff we can't. If they were feeding on poisonous mushrooms and you ate them you would be in trouble.

I seen one of these years ago hunting through leaf litter and when I got a good look at it I thought that is a good looking bird.

I just learned about unihemispheric sleep. That's where only half the brain is in a sleep state at a time. Several types of animals do this, including migrating birds.
