I heard that the native americans got their blue color from duck poop. Can't every color be made from coal oil these days?

According to this site duck poop was used as a pigment. I suspect that the droppings were gathered after the birds ate blueberries.

According to this site, modern synthetic paints are "manufactured from petroleum compounds, acids, and other chemicals."
