In 1968, AMT Model Company released a model of a space ship designed by Matt Jeffries, the man who designed the Starship Enterpise, and called it the Leif Ericson. It was to be the first in a series of ship models AMT would put out as their own version of a Star Trek type universe. Unfortunately, the sales of the Leif Ericson were horrible, and the rest were never made. Later, however, AMT re issued it as the Interplanetary UFO Mystery Ship in glow in the dark plastic, and then sold it in their Star Trek line. Thought the ship NEVER appeared in any incarnation of Star Trek, versions of it did appear on story boards for Star Trek the Animated Series. Anyway, in the Leif Ericson release, there was a cardboard flexi record called The Sounds of Outer Space. I recently acquired one on Ebay and recorded it digitally. Recently, a model company known as Round 2 reissued it. I got three of them and built them all. This video contains modified pictures of one of my models as well as space pics from the NASA library. Round 2 re issued the kit with a lot of the Leif Ericson parts, but not with the record. So here is the only version you will hear.
I was thinking yesterday that maybe the airplane models that I collect and build should be those that have had major encounters with UFOs? I have an F-94C Starfire that disappeared after encountering a UFO over Otis AFB. There was an F-89 Scorpion that went after a UFO and disappeared up by Canada or the great lakes. I could get a model of a TBM Avenger Bomber like those that made up Flight 19 that disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle. My best guess for this one is that it was caused by a domino effect from a major brain fart.

I heard a story that during the Vietnam war UFOs were fired upon only to have their own ordinance fired back at them. I don't recall if it was aircraft or from the brown water navy. If it was aircraft I would like to know what aircraft it was?

There's a 60% off sale at Micheal's today and I bought this. With the sale and killing off a gift card I paid less then $2. I am NOT going to buy any more models until I start putting some of the ones I have together! This is the airplane that Mantell was flying when he encountered a UFO and lost his life.
