They have 2 packs of gelatine in them. I'm hoping that kicks in and firms them up. All the other times I've used it was with boiling water.

What do you think Sherlew are they going to get firmer or not?

I checked on them a while ago and they did setup but I wonder how well it will last at room temperature. I took a little nibble and the taste took me back to the original. My BIG concern now is if there is antibiotics in the powdered milk that is in them.

There probably is, since most commercial liquid milk does. I don't know if you could find powdered milk which specifically doesn't have it or not.
As for how the space food sticks will last at room temperature, only time will tell.

I tried making a small batch of these. Since I don't eat much in the way of sugar anymore they're rather sweet to me, but good all the same. Don't think I ate the original space sticks they had for the public consumption back in the day so don't know how they tasted, but these are pretty good.

You had wheatgerm and gelatine?

I bought some oat bran. It seemed to work just as well. I already had some plain gelatin.
