(CNN) - They are hard to miss: Hundreds of dead birds, scattered everywhere on Hornbuckle Road.
"It was to the point where there were so many dead birds on the road that you couldn't avoid them and when you drove over them it was the crunch crunch of dead birds as your driving down the road," said Pamela Holz, resident of Clarksville, Tennessee.
Certainly not a pleasant scene and for nearby residents, it is a growing concern. That is why Holz decided to call upon the experts.
Wildlife officer Dale Grandstaff estimates there are about 500 all together, most of them flocking birds. He sent 15 off to a lab in Georgia because, as of right now, investigators have no idea who or what is responsible.
"No one should panic," said Grandstaff. "Just wait until we get the results back."
"You know, kids touch things, and we don't really want that there, especially if there's some sort of disease they're carrying
That is just too weird. I have never heard of such a thing.
