All guys think that R/C Helicopters are cool. I have been looking at them for a very long time. They were alway so expensive and to much of a gamble for if I would like it and be able to do it. I found this R/C Helicopter today for less then $10. I hope it works well enough for me to see if I can do it and like it?

My husband tells me that R/C helicopters are difficult to fly. This guy has a good idea, though. Do you have access to a simulator program that includes helicopter flying?

Also, there may be a reason that it's only $10. If it's new and has never been opened and flown you might be OK. If it's used there's no telling how many times it's hit the ground.

Amazon has some of these simulator packages. Someone else may have a better deal, though. I'd shop around.

It is new. They had a few boxes there that had been opened but I made sure that mine hadn't been.

That's good. I really would consider learning to fly one of these via sim, first, then taking the thing to the biggest open space you can find.

Last night I studied some youtube videos then put the batteries in the controller and started playing with my new Helli. I discovered from the videos that mine is the cheap crappie kind. I found out why they were being sold cheap and there is several reasons why. The instructions are terrible in many ways. They are printed way to small. The location and existence of controls & plugs are different in the instructions then on the Helli and control unit. There is an important step in setting up the control unit so that it communicates with the Helli that isn't even in the instructions. I learned about it from a youtube video. The control unit has a battery door that is held shut with a teeny tiny soft aluminum screw (always a sign of cheap crap). I may want to get a better r/c Helli in the future. Looks like a good brand to get is BLADE.

What he says about the tail rotor is the kind mine has.

You see how he syncs the controller with the Helli using the throttle? That's how mine works but isn't in the instructions. My box says R/C HELICOPTER but the instructions say it's IR infer red.

I would practice with this one, or another, better low-cost heli if this one's a real dud before buying something more expensive. Also, Hubby says that RC Groups is a good online board to join. They have a lot of knowledgeable people there. The political forum can get rather unpleasant and you may make better friends in the other forums. Here's a link to their beginner training area. link

I'm afraid that I'll have to watch the vids later, but promise to go back and do so.

After looking into and studying this for the past few days I have come to the conclusion that this is not for me right now. Even the mini Helios you can't fly close to objects or walls or ceiling and I reside in a micro apt I have always wanted to fly R/C but it looks like it might never happen.

Yeah, I thought that might be the case, sorry it's not working out. I was kind of hoping that it would. I see flying R/C helicopters as being more of an outdoor activity, but am not certain if you could fly it anywhere around you town. A gymnasium might work, too, but the same thing applies; you'd probably have to get permission first.
