I just sent to Granny's Country Store for more books and DVDs on wild edible plants. I am more comfortable with saying hunting for plants rather then foraging for them. My identification of them is long and drawn out. I wanted to get back to doing it this year but I didn't get to.

Me to. I want to start collecting good photos of the ones that I find. From the very beginning when I started learning about wild edible plants I read about a gigantic wild potato called man-of-the-earth and ever since it has been on the top of my list for what plant I would like to find the most.

There is some interesting info in this video. Did you hear what he said about pine tree pollen?

This is the most and best info that I've come a cross so far on this. It is something that I always wanted to do. We have a lot of black oak and red oak around here. There are very few white oaks here and forget about getting their acorns. You never find them because the birds and animals snatch them up fast.

Do you have a lot of them? Which one do you have the most of. Did the natives there eat them?

Just from my general observation we seem to have more pine trees than oak trees. I'm not sure which of the two types of oak we have, though. As for our Native First People, yes, they did eat acorns.

When I was hunting plants years ago I came to the conclusion that a pair of close focus binoculars should help. I was just looking at the PENTAX Papilio.
