The bird was persistent in trying to give it to the dog but the dog seems to scared of the bird.

Yeah she was, but then those birds have big, powerful beaks and that dog wasn't dumb. I doubt the bird would have hurt her, though, without provocation.

The next time I'm at that trail I'm going to try an listen better. They get their name from their call. They meow like a cat. They also mimic other birds and creatures.
