It seems like they are really going to town with working on the eq for a manned mars flight. Haven't they been testing the new space capsule already?

According to the Bigelow site, it kind of looks like the both the BEAM and B330 modules might be used on Mars. As for the ISS, it has an internal pressurized volume of 32,333 cubic feet (915.57 cubic meters). The BEAM module, when fully inflated, will have a volume of 16 cubic meters. It isn't going to add that much more room by it's self, but I think that what they're doing right now is testing the module in orbit to see how it does.
