I've done a quick search and haven't been able to find any apps specifically for astronomical sketching, just for general sketching purposes. So I've decided to try reading the book for free in my browser to see what the author has to say about the astro sketching apps. Will let you know what I find.

Although it's a possibility that some of the links aren't good, some of them should work.

Well, the only thing I've found so far that is specifically for astronomy sketching is the ConceptDraw Pro software which starts at $199. Also, there are sketch apps for smart phones and tablets. Phone apps are usually reasonable, from what I've seen, if not free. Do you have a smart phone, Don?

Basically the book goes through the history of computing, then on to some obsolete computers, PDAs, laptops and old smartphones, plus their software. He also mentions using digital cameras, cell phones and webcams to take both still photos and video. Tablets are also mentioned and I suspect that they may be one of the best ways to sketch the night sky. I'm still skimming through the book. Some of the links may still be good. I'll try them here soon.

Hmm, also it looks like the trial version is not the full version. Don't think I'd buy it, though. It's too dated.

I may try to find a long point pencil sharpener at Michael's today. Just checked out their site. Doesn't look good for pencil sharpeners.

Also, I bought a coloring book not too long ago and worked with that yesterday. It's a kind of beginning, I suppose. I could do a bit of drawing in it for practice.

That's OK, smart phones aren't all that smart anyway. It was just another option on sketching technology. I finally got one awhile back. It's a Tracfone and Amazon was selling the model I got for a pretty good price. I just buy a $20 time card every few months.
