I have 4 things coming tomorrow and 3 of them have to do with astronomy. Sherlew when are we going to be able to get back to doing astronomy? My long term weather forecast here sucks.

Now they are saying we are going to have a clear night but the temp is going to be in the teens.

I was just out for like 3 minutes with my 10x50 binos. I could see some nebulosity of the Orion Nebula. I seen a bright orange star and did what I could to get a fix on it so that I could ID it. I drew a straight line using Orion's belt to the northwest and measured it with my outstretched thumb and pinky which is 25 degrees. The star set slightly to the north of that. The best candidate so far is Aldebaran.

We have some clear skys here now. The Moon is messing things up a bit. Just a little while ago I was able to get both Mars and Venus into the field of view of my binoculars (which is 6.5 degrees) at the same time.

I was just out with my MEADE Infinity 60mm AZ Refractor with an MA 26mm eyepiece with my new light pollution filter. That gave me a magnification of 31x and field of view of 1.45 degrees. I was able to get the scope on Orion's sheath that filled the FOV. I could tell Orion's nebula was there. It did not look all that much different from what I seen in my binoculars. The bright moon was some what close to it.

Yeah, that old moon can get in the way. I'm glad that you got a chance to do some observations tonight.
