Top 10 hauntings in Lincolnshire
List goes on at the website- smoke:::
Garry Ross founded The Lincs Paranormal Research Team in 2003 and has produced a list of the top 10 hauntings in Lincolnshire.
The top 10 hauntings in Lincolnshire
A15 and 'The Ruskington Horror'
There are several 'ghost' sightings along the A15 but most tend to be on the Southern stretch heading towards Sleaford.
There are tales of a phantom cyclist, a little girl in a pink gown, horses dashing along, a man in a leather jacket standing beside the road etc.
The best story which has been going on since at least the 1960's & maybe earlier up to the present day is that of 'The Ruskington Horror'.
Several witnesses have stated that 'something' has run out in front of their cars near the turn off that leads to Ruskington.
It is usually described as a man with his arm raised who suddenly appears in front of the car.
Some people have said they have thought they have run someone down but on investigating outside their cars, can find no trace of anyone.
The last possible sighting we have heard about was in 2013 but we'd love people to contact us if they have had a recent sighting there or had one in the past as this is something we are still researching.
St. Mary's Guildhall, Lincoln.
This 12th Century building has had a few reports through the years. Sounds of footsteps, things being moved about and loud bangs coming from the North Range. T
here's also been a couple of reports of apparitions being seen in the North Range.
The building was built for King Henry II's crown wearing celebrations and is noe the home of the Civic Trust.
County Assembly Rooms, Lincoln.
This old building on the Bail in Lincoln has had stories of a man in Cavalier style dress being seen in a doorway in the ballroom one night, the sounds of furniture being moved upstairs, voices in the empty basement, doors opening & closing by themselves, taps suddenly turning on by themselves and objects being moved.
Lincoln Castle
A figure of a lady has been seen walking down the stairs inside the old Victorian women's prison and some say she is carrying her baby.
Inside the prison chapel unexplained lights have been seen, the doors of the booths will open and close on their own and voices have been heard.
Inside the male prison, doors have slammed shut, sounds of keys jangling, footsteps and moans or screams are said to have been heard.
Various shapes have been seen in the Observatory tower descending the stairs. growls and sounds of crying have been heard from the old graveyard where the prisoners were buried.
In Cobb Hall a lady dressed in black has been seen on the steps that lead up to where the old gallows used to be and others are said to have seen a figure descending those same stairs.
