If you see people walking around the George R. Brown Convention Center this weekend carrying gruesome decapitated heads and bags of bones, don't be alarmed. There's just a major Halloween expo in town for a few days.
HAuNTcon makes its return to Houston's convention center this week, running Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. The convention is for haunted house and horror industry types to take part in seminars and workshops and get a peek at what will be on Halloween store shelves come fall. It's around this time every year that retailers begin to make plans for what they will be selling to you in eight months or so.

Halloween is a $7 billion industry. With that much money involved in the world of scares and dressing up, it should come as no surprise that the industries associated with the holiday have their own yearly conventions where people come together to swap ideas and merchandise.
This year HAuNTcon (The Haunted Attraction National Tradeshow and Convention) and The Halloween and Party Expo combined forces, holding both conventions under the roof of the George R. Brown convention center. Imagine a Spirit Halloween Store the size of a mall and on steroids and you'll have a pretty good idea of what it was like inside.
