I know that you can use any coins for this but I would like to use special ones. I could liberate 3 old Chinese coins from my collection or I could use 3 silver coins like maybe 3 silver 50 cent pieces. What would you do? Why isn't the cent symbol on my keyboard?

Because who'ever designed it refused to make cents. Hmm, phonetic jokes are better spoken than typed up. It isn't on my keyboard either. Guess they decided that it wouldn't be used that often and omitted it to save space. As for the coins, either would do, I'd think. I would be tempted to use the old Chinese coins because they're neat.

My book came in finally and I picked it up today. I got I Ching For Beginners by MARK McELROY. I am just looking through it and it looks like what I want for starting out and learning about it.

I started reading my I Ching book last night and for me I did pretty good. I read 22 pages. I just started on Consulting the I Ching Step by Step.

If we both learn to do this we could test it out in several ways. We could even see how well it does with Doctor Who.

How are you planning to apply this?

I don't know yet. Maybe we could figure that out. I think that I am at the point were I should give it a try. It looks like you come up with a question. How you phrase the question looks like it helps a little. It says "the more specific the question, the more specific the answer" You repeatedly toss coins and that helps you build a hexagram. The hexagram indicates the chapter in the text that is your answer.

I found and bought another old Chinese coin today. It is in better shape then the last one but far from perfect.

I doubt that you'll find any old, authentic Chinese coins that are in perfect shape.
